Sabix 8 VR Upgrade
Choose the VR version for greater control when using very fine abrasives. It adds a pneumatic tank vibrator and precision pneumatic abrasive mixing system, making it particularly useful for detailed restoration and microblasting.
Acquablast Humidification Kit
Introduces a controlled amount of water into the blasting stream to reduce airborne dust and improve visibility. A useful addition for restoration, site work and surface preparation where dust reduction is a priority.

Localised paint and coating removal from suitable timber and beams.
Controlled cleaning of stone, brickwork and masonry.
Rust removal from smaller metal components.
Furniture, doors and architectural details.
Smaller restoration projects and intermittent surface preparation.

The SABIX 8 Base and VR can use the following mineral abrasives. Maximum grain size: 0.5 mm / 500 microns.
Garnet 80 mesh – general rust, paint and coating removal on suitable metal and robust surfaces. Specify a grade with no particles exceeding 0.5 mm.
Garnet 120 mesh, approximately 0.08–0.18 mm – finer, more controlled cleaning and surface preparation. Fine garnet remains a hard, cutting abrasive.
Fine crushed glass, 0.2–0.5 mm – general rust, paint and coating removal, including selected work on sound brick and stone following a successful trial.
Brown aluminium oxide 70 mesh, approximately 0.18–0.25 mm – stronger cutting action for corrosion, resistant coatings and metal surface preparation.
Glass bead, 100–200 microns / 0.10–0.20 mm – cleaning and producing a uniform satin finish on suitable aluminium, stainless steel and other metal components.
Calcium carbonate Fine Grade 4 – gentler cleaning of suitable stone, masonry and timber. The quoted mean grain size is approximately 0.235 mm; confirm that the maximum particle size does not exceed 0.5 mm.
Additional abrasives for SABIX 8 VR
Specify the VR version for:
Sodium bicarbonate – selected light coatings, deposits and sensitive component cleaning.
Ground corn cob – suitable timber, old finishes and restoration cleaning.
Ground walnut shell – carbon deposits, moulds and selected component or timber cleaning.
These softer media are not included in our recommended range for the Base. Use purpose-made fine blasting grades within the 0.5 mm limit, with the exact grade confirmed before ordering.
Keep abrasives clean, dry and free flowing. Always test the abrasive, pressure and technique on a small area before treating the full surface.
